911SC Seatbelt Tongue (Male End) Compatibility

I am wanting to buy a new seatbelt for my 1980 SC, but what Pelican is selling as the correct part number is not exactly the same as what is in my car. I am not sure if it will work with my buckle (female end) 92880318305.

Perusing the forums I have found three different looking tongues (male ends) of the seat belt, all of which claim to be the "correct" part number, 928803012609.

Pelican is selling the one on the left, my car has the same male end as the pic in the middle (74-86 seat belts -Pair), and I found the righthand one also being called the above part number (WTB Front Passenger Seat Belt Assembly).

There is a Repa part number on my tongue, 00007797, if that helps. The tag on the belt says Repa, but does not have "Porsche" on it, so is probably, just the OEM instead of Porsche branded part.

I am surprised no one has brought this up before. Any insight is appreciated.

When I got DQ'd by the SD PCA AX weenies for having old stock seatbelts I went to the Stealership and ordered the driver side belts. The SD PCA asshats wrongly interpreted the AX rules on a DE requirement for RACE belts.

While the belt appeared to be close in appearance, the latch had a different configuration. I purchased the whole assembly. It had no date and the only way to determine it was a newer model was the latch change or the receipt.

Hope this helps....

You could have your old belts re-webbed, that way you retain your old hardware.

A lot of folks use Seatbelt Planet for this.

I'm not sure how long it takes, though. Can you wait for winter?

BTW, my Targa is also Schwarz metallic. Not very common.

Hey Joe, sorry that you had to buy a new seat belt for naught. What a pain!

When you said you bought the whole assembly, did you buy this

AND this?

Or just this

and the new one worked with the female end you had?

Thanks for the suggestion Mark. I will certainly consider it.

I really like the schwarz metallic. It changes colors depending on the lighting which is really cool.

They sold it with a female.

The big PITA was the drive from Santa Barbara to SD. Since I ran the SB AX, I knew the rules, but they booted me anyways.

I made sure every SD weenie that came up to my Region AX got looked up the rectum and DQ'd if they were warranted. I didn't pull the chickenshcittzle seat belt trick though, that would have been petty.....

To close this out, I bought the seat belt that Pelican sells and it works with the female end in my car. I think the thickness of the tip is the important dimension. Hopefully this helps someone.
