Hazard light

I know there are many posts on this subject but need some guidance on this. My hazard light turns on a stays lit when pressed. It does not blink. My lights also do not flash when hazard is pressed. I have no issues with my turn signal. Could this be a relay problem or with the hazard button itself? 84 targa.

There might be some info here to help you out:

Understanding the Emergency Flasher Switch

Particulary post 14 for how it functions. This is from my 1985. At first blush it seems to me it looks like the switch function on the far right terminal 15 might not be switching. So the flasher relay is still powered by the turn signal (which if in neutral position will not power the relay). Try this, activate your emergency flasher, wait for solid lights, then switch your turn signal. Do the flashers now work?

Please try that simple test I mention. Let us know what you find out. There is something to be learned here I think.

Sounds like your flasher unit is kaput. If you know someone near you with a similar car you could try swapping units, so to speak.

Which flasher unit do you recommend bob? Do you mean the actual switch or relay?

I would pull the switch and check continuity on switching in accordance with the thread I referenced.

The flasher relay seems to be working with turn signals.
