All,
Thanks for the input---I have key blanks, etc...I guess the main effort of my question was to see if getting a key cut directly from the cylinder, tumblers was worth it for the long run...However it seems like it's not but to go ahead and just get my blanks cut.....in other words, don't go down that road if the old key I have still works......as they say don't fix it if it's not broke is what I am hearing

I had mismatching door/ignition locks and my locksmith re-did my ignition lock tumblers to match the doors. He was able to do that just by re-using the existing ones in a different order. There was one that couldn’t be matched but did some locksmith magic and figured it out.

If you find a locksmith willing to take it on consider going down this route as going back to a single key is great.
