Chain case gasket question
Hi,
1976 2.7L targa. While i'm cleaning the engine slowly putting plan of attack to sort out the leaks I've noticed one area of leaks is the gasket between the chain case and the engine block. I do have the silly little gaskets but to me replacing them is not an easy task. Are these easily replaceable or you need to crack open the engine? The gaskets are number 5 on the diagram. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1514511467.gif |
In order to change those gaskets you must dismantle the cam timing assembly. And in order to put it back you must have the special tools to-time the cams. It's not a task for the faint of heart.

+1 you have to dismantle and remove timing chain sprockets. Your engine is a bit harder because of the later style cam nuts but not too difficult.
If you can work on an engine you can time it. |
Thank you. This will have to wait a better day.
