MFI conversion to carbs

Hi
I would firstly like to apologise for questions that may seem foolish for the initiated.

I have just recently restored a 66 912 after selling my 78 targa. The 912 has a VW motor and what I miss is the power of the targa.. somehow the 912 with a VW motor doesnt seem right as well.

Being in far away Pakistan with only newer Porsches 2006 and beyond and only 6 older cars there arent any mechs with experience of the older cars. we have to do everything on our iwn.

I have the opportunity to have a 2.2 litre or a 2.4 litre motor sourced form abroad. Only these are MFI and having all sorts of trouble with the MFI pumps on various mercedes and recently a Renault 2.5 V6 I think it may be appropriate to change to Carburetors.

Could the experts on the forum tell me what parts would I need for the conversion.
Would I need to cahnge the cams and what cams would I require for either the 2.2 or 2.4. What carbs are best???
I want a reliable daily driver and am not really going in for huge power increases although oomph would be appreciated.
Attached are a few pictures of the car and where I started .

EFI ITB’s for tuning, reliability and fun. Also looks great.
Search the forum and read up on them.
Your old MFI parts would likely pay for them!

If you want the carbs for simplicity, i’d just purchase the complete system from PMO. If the engine is together and runs, i’d Just keep the original cams and internal components for now.

And yes, your MFI parts would certainly help pay for the conversion.

Here is the best answer for your unique situation. :)

Once you fiinalize which engine you will use, a PMO kit can be precisely configured for you.
