Leaking chain cover after update

Just did updated tensioners on the 83SC and all went well. After I finished I have a small oil leak out of the left chain cover from around the lower 3 nuts. I used a cross tightening pattern when I put them on but it hasnt stopped it. Two questions, is this pattern correct and what is the torque values for the nuts on the cover.

Were the gasket sealing surfaces completely clean of old gasket material and ungouged? Sometimes old gasket material remains right next to the studs (since it's hard to scape there - use only a plastic or wood scaper) and causes a leak. Was the cover flat with clean, ungouged sealing surfaces? The nuts should only be torqued to 7 ft-lbs (84 in-lbs). I also apply a very light coating of Curil-T compound to the paper chain cover gaskets. Cheers, Jim

Jim the covers were clean and straight. I am going to remove them again and check how clean the area around the studs were. Thanks
