Question Targa Top

Has anybody ever thought about making a hardtop for the targa? Or is there a reason y this has not been done. Having not seen a targa in person i dont' know how they seal, but in theory this would be possible?

There are a few already out there...

The factory did make a hardtop for the earlier Targa's. Although, they are pretty hard to come by and you will usually pay a hefty premium if you find one. There are/have been at least 2 other after-market hardtops made as well, including a (NLA) smoke-glass version. Also, I believe there are a couple fellow board members currently working on new designs (do a search).

This has been a topic with lots of info. As Eric noted just do a search on targa hard top.

Maybe I'm missing something hear. I've read the threads on the hard Targa tops. Call me crazy but the reason I bought a Targa is so I can fold it up stuff it in the trunk and enjoy the open air. Get caught in bad weather, pull it out of trunk, unfold it and put it back on. The solid hard tops don't fit in the trunk. That'll kind of limit your driving. IMO

Well, the solid targa tops did fit in the trunk back when (before power brake boosters), and besides, I put my top behind the seats and never fold it. That way I can put it on or take it off while sitting at a stop light if I need to.
