Starke SC wheels

Has anyone purchased these wheels? If so any pics would be great. Looking to put my factory 16/7s in the front and purchase the Starks 16/8s in the rear. Can't find any pics on if they'll match oem

A friend bought them. They look crappier in person. She shape/flow of the petals is off, and the machined lip is way too shiny, just like the gloss black center.

It's hard enough getting used OEM wheels to match, never mind expecting aftermarket to.

All I've ever read is that all of the different manufacturer's of Fuch style wheels have slightly different looks, lips, etc. Different people like what they like but most probably would never notice in my opinion.

Jesse -- agree in general, but the OP was looking to run a pair of 16x8 starke replicas with a pair of real fuchs 16x7 -- given others' comments on the differences, it would seem that in this situation the difference would be noticeable.

I’d rather use 45 year old Fuchs over newer cast wheels for track use. Seen several cast spokes start to crack. A few stories of broken centers. Gotta keep those Fuchs clean so you can check them as well, but way more trustworthy IMO. Lighter too.

According to giant chart over on Rennlist a 16x7 Fuch is 18lbs.

Yes, a cast wheel is more likely to crack. Especially one like a "Starke" which has no known TUV / JWL / SAE certification. They are also made in China.

There are higher quality cast wheels.

Lots of Fuchs have cracked. Keep in mind that not only is the wheel 45 years old, but the design is over 50 years old and many argue not amazing by modern standards.

Yes, Fuchs are one of the very few production press forged wheels but they still crack, and not infrequently.

I would recommend either a new set of Fuchs (can't say if the production process is the same as decades ago), or get one of many billet forged track wheels.

I am continually surprised that people seem to be more concerned with wheel weight than strength. Street use still puts a good amount of stress on a wheel.

Yeah, I had a crack in a petal on a 15x6. At least with the Fuch they won’t generally grenade like cast wheels. Seen them cracked for a long time actually. I like to inspect them inside and out, usually once a year when I’m putting on the track set.

Returned the wheel. Going with real Fuchs. Wasn’t happy with the look of the wheel

What about Euromeisters? I have 17x7x8 on my 930. They look pretty good, as the profile is correct. The machine finish is the only thing that is off, but it is more matte than glossy, unlike the Starke.

The strength is much the same, or good enough for street. The cheap wheel manufacturers just keep making them thicker and heavier until they are strong enough. Nothing slows a car down more than heavy wheels. Remember all that rotating mass stuff you got taught in physics at high school.

No need to point that out.
You'd have to be blind in one eye and looking away with the other if the difference was not obvious...

Glad you decided to go with all OEM Fuchs.
Mixing aftermarket with OEM would not have looked proper.
