Options other than installing impact bumpers on my ‘74

I have the front and rear impact bumpers off my ‘74 for a ful respray and am wondering if there are other bumper options I should be considering. I’ve never really considered this before so hoping to get some ideas from you all.

I am going to keep her narrow fenders and looking to keep th overall look understated.

Any ideas/pictures/sources to share?

Thanks!

I think your only options are to backdate thethe longhood style ($), or consider some aftermarket fiberglass bumpers/valences (like the Ruf Yellowbird style). Of course, fiberglass will not provide any protection. Some folks have tried tucking the front bumper closer to the hood(eliminating the front smile), but I don’t know the process used to achieve that look.

On glass;

I thought the SCRS front was the best option for a midyear. It's smooth and understated if you go that route.

The Iroc front (non lower integrated lip) was a close second for me. But I think it looks better on flared cars.

Nothing wrong with the stock bumpers either. If you are looking to save a little weight, swap to the Euro impact crush tubes vs the heavy US shocks.

For more radical mods there's an "Official modified bumpers thread" with a lot to look at.

These are the two I'm considering, as Duane mentioned the SCRS front........

SCRS Front

and keeping the 77S narrow body in the back........

Narrow Back

and the lower weight Euro bumper shocks...............

Bumper Shocks

Thanks for the discussion and links.

Let me get busy searching past threads as well.

What about just modifying the stock bumpers, maybe loose the big bumperettes in the back and smooth it out. When I get some extra scratch to procure some donor bumpers I will start heading down that path myself (although where will I rest my beer when I'm wrenching on the engine?)
