15x7x8 on '71 911

I am sure that this question has been asked and answered, but I could not find it. Will the 15x7x8 Fuchs (with 205 and 225/60x15 Yokos) from my '88 911 fit on a 1971 911T?

Thanks,

Lew

Send me an email and I will send you some pics (when I get home) of a pair installed on my 74. Looks like hell. poorsha@shaw.ca.

Doubtful. The 8s are simply too wide to work in the rear. Plus, 225/60s are too large of a tire to work in the rear even on a 7 inch wheel. 225/50s fit much better, but they must be on 7 inch wheels.

Since you have the wheels, though, give it a shot. Take pictures and post them. I've tried this before and they were so far from actually fitting that it was comical....

I think the 7s w/205/60 would fit OK front and rear but not the 8s w/225/60.

225/50 would begin to look weird IMO. BAnderson's book recommends 7x15 w 205/60. But, only your opinions/recommendations should matter to you.

However, I agree with Mike. Try 'em on and see how it looks.

This is 6x15 w/ 205/60 AVS

Lew:

I've been able to fit 15x7s and 205-60-15s on all four corners of my '74 narrow. There is rubbing in the back, but mostly on steep driveways. I've seen 225s work on the rear of a '72 narrow, but they were 50-series. The car had been lowered, and was mostly used for track, yet the car seemed to work fine on city streets, too. I thought the set up looked more cool than weird.

The 8s won't fit. They have about 10mm of ofset and they will stick out about 3/4" with 225s. I had a set of the 944 turbo 8s and could not get those to fit and they had 23.3 mm of offset.

FWIW.
