930 Short Bell Housing Casting numbers

Hi everyone,

I’m hoping someone can help me understand what some of the casting numbers mean on my 930 4-speed SBH transmission. The specific area I’m looking for help on is the rear cover (shift rod end), I have the following numbers and if like to know what the 31/83 means, also there is a number “2” above the main rear cover part number, why is this?

That's a production date. That piece was cast the 31st week of 1983.

The 2 could be a die number.

Gentlemen,

Thank you very much for your input, clearly now-since its on my short bell housing tranny it must have been replaced at one time. I have seen these to crack on 915’s and 930’s now.
