No Crank after rebuild

Today was the day I was supposed to start my freshly rebuilt 1980 911SC turbo conversion. That dream got stomped out almost immediately. I couldn't get the starter to engage. It does not click, makes no noise, nothing. The ground strap was replaced today and we triple checked all other grounds.

- Also weird, the blower motor for the cabin only comes on if the key is in the off position. If the key is in run they blower shuts off.

Big red wire and large black wire are bolted on the top terminal of the starter. Big yellow wire connected to left spade connector, little yellow with blue stripe connected to the bottom.

Is the yellow wire at the 14 pin connector supposed to have 12volts when key is in "start?" Mine has no voltage at the connector or at the starter.

The yellow wire should have +12 volts when the key is in the start position to activate the solenoid.

I had a similar problem after rebuilding the top end on my engine. My problem was I had the two smaller wires on the starter swapped and after a few hours diagnosing I found it. Switched them and car cranked and started.
It maybe worth a look.

Same thing happened to me. Had the wire on the wrong terminal, and it came disconnected from the crimped connector too. 5 minute fix and it was cranking fine.
