Peter Z or John Walker, 915 detent help needed

I need the exact order of parts for the frontmost detent, the one that locks out 5th/reverse from 3rd/4th.

I have the dumbell detent in place, with the rollpin locking it into place.
I have the upper detent out, with the spring, rod, um, sleeve and rollpin.

For the life of me, I cannot figure out the order that things go back in place, and at what point does the rollpin get driven in, and what does it capture?

The culprits:

The order that I think they go in:

My thinking: the spring gets locked by the rollpin, pressing down on the sleeve and then to the dumbell detent, which puts pressure on the 5th/rev shift rod. The rod slides within the spring and sleeve, creating a solid connection between the lower and upper detents, keeping them a constant distance apart to prevent two gears at once.

Is this correct? How do you get the spring compressed while driving in the upper rollpin?

Does the spring maybe go first, then the sleeve is what gets locked by the rollpin? I could imagine it either way.

Thanks!

Yes. That looks like spring first, then sleeve, then press down on the sleeve to fit the roll pin in, then drop the pin in past the roll pin, then the detent. So, the order I describe in the last sentence.

I wish I had that picture before I took everything apart, I mostly did that because I didn't want that to be a black box, I wanted to understand how it worked. Peter's tutorial talks about it a bit, but isn't clear on the order of items inside the housing.

A factory tool, P366, is used to compress the spring and sleeve as the roll pin is installed.
You can make something similar, it doesn't have to be precise.

Does this help?

I took this photo when I rebuilt my 78 Trans more than 10 years ago.

Thank you all, I was able to put everything back in it's place. It was actually the process of typing it out that made me think about putting in the spring first, then the sleeve...at that point, it all kinda made more sense.

Got everything back together, ready to torque down those last two giant nuts...when I had to re-open the intermediate housing just minutes after sealing it up...with a gasket...and gasket dressing...which resulted in a torn gasket...
