1970 - Front Bumper Moulding Trim
![]() ![]() Can this gap be repaired with some material & not look as though the work was performed with an ice pick or a screwdriver? Colour match may be an issue as well. The rubber piece appears to have shrunk to create the approx. 19mm (3/4") gap. I am not too sure of the availability of a replacement rubber trim piece - installation of same (if available) looks to be a bituvabitsch given the construction of the aluminium moulding backing strip itself. Is there any mouldable rubber or similar compound which may be used as a filler? Any suggestions or advice will be greatly appreciated -Thanks in advance. Cheers JB

Those are available but a true pain in the behind to install. They need to be warmed up and then use some soapy water.
Another option is vinyl tape or electrical tape to accent the front bumper. from our host: Front Bumper Deco Insert, (Rubber only) (1-inch Wide Rubber 'S' Trim), 911 (1969-73) Part #: PEL-TMP-9306A

Pull it out, heat it evenly, then stretch.

Thanks for responding guys. The heat & stretch method sounds as one with a relatively high degree of difficulty requiring perseverance & patience which leaves me wondering as to my chances of success & how long before the rubber eventually contracts & splits again. Maybe replacement is my only viable option. Either way - I ain't looking forward to this as the replacement kit doesn't seem to have the makings of a slam-dunk deal either.
Cheers JB
