Interior Color Check - 82' 911 SC

Greetings fellow Pelicans,

I want to know what the official Porsche color is of the interior on this 1982 911 SC. Is it chocolate brown? TIA.

Yes. Chocolate Brown.
I believe you are considering recovering seats?
An alternate consideration is to have the seat cushion foams rebuilt and then have the original covers refitted.
A talented upholsterer can restitch and cleanup the original leather work.
It's a personal preference, but I love the old worn and weathered leather. It's like a beautiful pair of old Levis.
In any case, if you choose to replace the covers, hang onto the old ones.

See if there is a "European Leather Care" anywhere near you. They do amazing things with restoring leather. Much easier than recovering.

BoxerBill,

Thank you! Yes, I am considering having some upholstery work done, but I am hesitant to replace the leather because I too like the original leather. I will likely just have the foam re-done.

I think this may actually be called just "brown". It's hard to tell based on the lighting in your photo. My 1980 SC has an interior that is "brown", and this is different from "chocolate brown" that showed up slightly later. They are both a dark brown, but Brown is darker and warmer, and Chocolate Brown is a bit creamier, like milk chocolate, let's say. This shows the difference:

Otter74,

Thanks for sharing. Now I'm a bit confused as to whether it is chocolate or just brown. It seems both flavors of Brown were offered in 1982 according to the link you shared. Perhaps the COA will shed more light, but I'm not holding my breath.

Based on the available color charts that I have seen as supplied in Porsche Classic for 82 it is just brown. There was no Chocolate in 82.

Here is a link to the Porsche Classic color chart for 1982.
