BELKIN is a good manufacturer. I have their stuff in all my cars, no issues whatsoever.

But OK, I must admit, your obove solution is a sure installation, so when you pull the cable it stays in place. Credit for that SmileWavy

Great installation. General question on this type of voltage meter installation: does the lighter location give an accurate a reading of system voltage?

Thanks

Good question.
I have one now and the voltage reading is inconsistent. It reads low after being.plugged in for a while. Unplug it then Plug it back in and it’s ok... for a while then low again. Bought another and same thing.

might want to check/clean/replace the fuse for that circuit. I ran into that too, and found that the fuse had oxidized and was no longer making a good connection with the fuse block. New fuse fixed the problem and I now have a (more) consistent voltage reading from the lighter socket

I bought an Escort detector years back but it didn't come with the adapter. They did offer them as an accessory, but no longer. Thankfully, I bought one, but wish I had picked up a couple more especially as they were so damn inexpensive.

That begs to be plastic printed.

If you have a set of calipers, I'll give it a try.

Here ya go. All measurements are in mm.

Sorry to Hijack, but Radio delete bucket, where did you get it? I have the flat delete panel from Porsche but the bucket would be more useful.

Thanks,

Frank

Good job on printing these. I'd be interested in buying a couple of these if you decide to sell them in the future. Stay well.

FWIW, I’ve used this plug-in Voltage and USB port unit for many years in my ‘79 without any problems. It plugs securely right into the original cigar lighter unit in the car without issues. I like the ability to have a Volt Meter, that Porsche failed to include on our early cars, to monitor for the always dreaded overcharge issue and still be able to keep my iPhone charged
Bought mine on Amazon, but there's plenty currently on eBay. Attached a link, no affiliation, as example only - https://www.ebay.com/itm/Stinger-Car-12V-Digital-LED-Voltage-Meter-Plug-with-USB-Charger-SGP12/112818038351?epid=2255928415&hash=item1a447aa64f:g :pkgAAOSwqi1al1GP#rwid

I've got this one too and the display has been dying one bar at a time... about 2 years old...

Also looking for this, would love to have a secure USB port right there.

Lighter sleeve.

Would love to buy one also

Has anyone else installed this? Seems pretty straightforward and could be a good solution, although I am hesitant to give up the vintage look of the original unit. Mine doesn’t appear to be currently functioning though- the plug-in voltmeters that some have linked doesn’t fit correctly and even holding it in by hand I can’t get it to work. I’ve checked the fuses and I recently cleaned the fuse panel and dash ground. Maybe I’ll just replace the lighter and use the plug in type.

Here’s the link on US Amazon (other link is the Canadian store):

If yours works - more power to ya ;)

Gordo

That one fits quite well, no wobbling or loss of power:

Anything ever come of this? I'd take one as well if they perform as expected! One thing I'd be curious about is if they may melt when using. Perhaps not, but just a thought.

I hacked my old cigarette lighter and used the retaining ring to take up the slack
