I'm thinking about asking for the 115 piece setup with trolley for my birthday. I think it is made by Hazett or Hazlett. Any thoughts on whether it is worth the astonomical price I'm sure it will be?

Dan,
I'm sure the Hazet Tool caddy and tool assortment would be sweet! But They are pretty pricey, even more than Snap-On. But hey, if someone is willing to buy it for you as a prsent, go for it. I just can't seperate with that kind of money for tools. I pretty much buy the poor man's Snap-On (Craftsman) ------------------ Matt Chamblin 78 911 SC |

Dan, Check out Stahlwille's Porsche specific kits. They offer a 115 piece kit as well as a 64 piece kit that augments the former. I sound like an ad for Stahlwille as I posted earlier today about a torque wrench closeout they're having! Just a satisfied customer. I purchased both kits, 179 pieces total and the Rollmaster to boot for less than $3000, I know it's a ton of money but they are every bit as nice as Hazet plus they are an incredible company (very customer oriented). Brian Porter is the head guy at their north american headquarters in Sarasota, Florida, he worked with me on prices when I told him I was on a budget. Check 'em out www.stahlwille.com

Hazet? Aren't the open end wrenches in a factory tool kit made by them? Far as I'm concerned, they are on a par with Craftsman, but without the guarantee. Want a $$$ showpiece roll away & tools in your garage to make the other guys say "wow"? Snap-on.
Check your best independent P car repair shops, look at the tools being used. Snap-on most of the time. When my lottery ticket comes in? I'll call the snap on man! For now, for tools I use? Craftsman...edit subject: I confided this calling the snap on lottery dream to a repair shop owner once. His response was that he'd never see a snap on man again, because if he won a lottery he'd never work on a car again. Different strokes, right?
