How bad is it for a 911 to be left idling?

Specifically, is it worse for a 911 engine to sit at idle for an extended length time than for a typical water-cooled engine? I realize it would eventually overheat, but what about letting it idle from a cold start until it has warmed up? What kind of damage or wear might one expect?

I hope not too bad as it's getting cold and I not only let her warm up I actually crank that little hand throttle thing and let her rev at 2K too.

BTW R22, thanks for the insulation tips for baby room. WE HAD A BOY, all is well in the world!

The owners manual, and other sources, say to best treat the engine to immediately drive the car after starting but not to rev above 3K until somewhat warmed up.

I usually let the car idle until I'm past the first white notch (the wide one). Hope that's ok.
