Sorry - Another 'What's this wire?' Question.

I've just taken my steering wheel off to get to the ignition so I can pull it out.
The bottom cover of the steering wheel cover had to come off as well - three screws, and suddenly I'm presented with a wire, I'm not sure where it came from.

Car is a 1975 ('74 build) 911s.

This is the wire:

It looks like it may have been behind the side screw that held the bottom steering column cover on. I can't check though as my cars electrics are a mess!

I've tried looking at my wiring diagram, but there are a few brown wires on there to choose from :D

Any and all (well most) input appreciated!
Thanks

Likely ground for the turn signal/hi/low beam switch. Can you follow it back to it’s source?
Brown is ground.

Thanks for the 'Brown is a ground' comment. At least that might help me find what isn't working until I ground it out in the future!

So far I've only touched three screws:http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1520471712.JPG

I wonder if it came from one of these?

This is a closer look at that side:

Following it back is a good option, but if anyone knows where it goes, I would be really grateful. I don't really want to dismantle the dash much more. I'm only as stuck as I am, as I didn't get the right key, when I bought the car from an estate sale (as a project).

Damn theft safety lock mechanisms!

That ground wire goes in between the lower clamshell and the steering column when you reassemble

Thanks. :D
Does it get crushed on by the screws, or a trapped fit?

Thank again!!! SmileWavy

It goes where kees shows in the picture, however, it is “sandwiched “ between the plastic clamshell and column

Thanks everyone for the detail and taking the time to post up pictures.
It's a great help. :)
So this weekend, I'm going to try to finally get that lock out to get a working key! :D
