Sticky throttle cable
This is an informative post for the bennifit if other idiots like myself.
I’ve been busy with my car over the past year or so and because of this I haven’t had organized punch list style orderly jobs done but rather hurry up and do stuff and see what’s next style of work. Some things were rather involved such as efi as well as a complete new engine with carrera intake and all what goes with that (Intercooler changes, blow off valve addition, wires all over the effing place etc) Well this post as it clearly states is about my throttle sticking. Over a year ago I replaced my peddles and then I rebuilt my cluster because it wasn’t working correctly (throttle hanging up and sometimes sticking open) and left it to do other things. Coming back to tuning the new engine it was problematic that my throttle wouldn’t come back in its own so last night I decided to have another look. Well my clutch cable pin/clevis thingy securing my cable to the cluster arm was upside down. The pin should point toward the cluster not away because the rest of the pin apparatus gets in the way of the throttle cup end. With it turned correctly as the manual probably shows, toward the peddle cluster it works perfectly. I’m. It adding pictures of mine as it’s all buttoned up sorry. If you’re having clutch or throttle sticking problems soon after some work down there have another look and Attack your clevis pin correctly.

And if you haven’t checked those bell crank bushings in awhile, if they disintegrate, that can cause the throttle to stick wide open as well. This just happened to me at a recent AutoX, of course if you are going to put new bushings in, you might as well upgrade the pedals, right?
