911 SC brake vacuum line
My 83 SC has been backdated to carbs, I found the brake booster vacuum line hanging loose past the tranny tunnel. Can someone educate me where this plugs in? I no longer have cruise either. I can't say that I've noticed much difference without it currently. Would this cause a loss in pedal feel?

Dee, there are smarter guys to comment but I'll say this: on the CIS engine - obviously that's how an 83 was originally equipped- the hose supplying vacuum to the brake booster comes off the left/driver side of the CIS air box. The hose is robust and thick-walled, and connects to a steel line at the rear of the central tunnel, where the clutch cable and fuel lines emanate. From the front of the tunnel it makes a couple more metal to rubber hose transitions to connect to the booster. As to how much assist a properly functioning booster offers, I guess you'd need to drive a car so equipped to feel the difference. I'm not well enough versed in Weber conversions to know whether normally a port would be provided on the left side intake manifold for the hose in question. Best regards, John in CT.

Brake booster......
Quote:
Dee, Your brake system has a brake booster and vacuum assisted. Once the vacuum is disconnected or disabled, the braking system becomes less efficient. Meaning you have to exert more effort to stop the car and will take a longer braking distance to stop. I inadvertently drove my ‘79 SC with the brake vacuum line disconnected but plugged and noticed that the car was not stopping as it used to be and found the culprit. Tony |

Ayles - many thanks! I may be referring to the wrong line. As I no longer have a charcoal canister, can I pull the fuel vapor line?
