Damaged Porsche 964, advice please?

Maybe I'm in over my head. It has damage as seen and the wiring looks unwrapped (but in ok shape). What's my options? I know how to cut/weld and other mechanicals but this might be a bit much for DIY?

Advise please! Has no engine as well. Subaru it?

What did you have in mind when you bought it?

I would be worried about the body being twisted. That would have to be corrected before any repairs are attempted.

Way over my head.

I would need a body shop with a jig straighten machine to be sure new panels go perfect. The buckles on the door pillar jam and rocker look difficult to say the least.

For a motor I'm a purist. But I did like the 964 LS conversion on the interwebs

Way beyond me.

Do you own it yet? If so I personally would part out and then weigh it in.

If you don't own it, I would keep my hands in my pockets and look for something within my personal ability.

Ouch...that is one hard hit. I agree with John Walker...what's your body work and mechanical aptitude / ability? As this car will require someone who is highly skilled.

A Subie in a 964? just no.

I would partially part it out and do a Singer backdate style car. Keep the parts you'll use and sell the rest of the 964 parts to fund a core 3.6. Hopefully, what you sell the parts for might get you most of the way there.

Once you have a bare tub, it needs to go on a jig and straightened. Then, put on the backdate parts.

If by chance you do not own it yet walk away. My 2 cents.

To have something fun to look at and tinker with in the garage, where it sits now. Already have got many hours of enjoyment from it.

I appreciate all the advice but I think it's probably out of my skill range as well. I might try to cobble fix the right side, but ultimately I think I should move it on as a whole. Only problem is, if I can't fix it, who else would want it?? If someone has Singers contact number or they're interested, message me.

Looks like quite a project. Anything can be fixed. Question is will it be worth the effort and expense. Have you priced 964 motors?

The first thing to do is measure all the suspension points to see if the tub is straight.

Then do an inventory of all the parts you will need to do the repairs.

I could be wrong, but I am guessing that it will cost way more to repair this than a running 964 is worth.

Suby? That would be a real waste of time, IMO.

Singer wouldn’t touch it. For a start each project requires the owner to provide the car. For a second, their requirements are no crash damage.

You need it towed to a body shop to get it straight before you do anything. They will either stretch it back to where it needs to be or inform you it is scrap. Tinkering will get old if there is no possibility of actually returning the car to road or track.

Sorry, I don't get it. Nothing against Subarus or engine swaps or hot rods. Yea, you can get a Suby engine, etc for a couple of grand. Sure. But by the time you have made all the modifications and fabrications you could have put in a 3.6. (flame suit on)

Let's see, you would have to rewire the car, custom gauges, import all the suby electronics and wire them in. Then the cooling system, custom pipes, custom radiators, custom body work and fabrication to get it all to fit. And I haven't got to the transmission yet.

So if you are really into doing this sort of work and have the skills AND want to work for free for years, go for it. Then when you are all done, it is still a subaru in a Porsche body.

JMO.
