964 RSR Tribute

Friend sent me a link to Sloan Cars, they have a large inventory of Porsches. He's a fan of Singer and asked if I've ever seen the Sloan RSR tribute, based off a 964. Never seen them before, sort of like their own version of Singer, look like they're using Iozzio wheels. Pics from their website.

Bleck. Those rockers and leading edge of the rear flares just wreck the lines of the car.

Couldn’t agree more. Looks cartoonish to my eye, and the wheels don’t help. To each his own though....

Couldn't have said it better myself. The Sloan 'Slinger' looks ugly and worse half arsed. Those wheels = yuk. Never liked anything I've seen form Kaege Retro either

Frankly, though I do like the look of Long Hoods a lot....I am SO sick of people converting their cars, esp the pseudo-manufacturers. Guys doing it custom in your garage, total respect for the workmanship etc, have at it! I am not talking about you all at all.

As to company's doing them like the guys above, and many others...I am building up a "back lash" mentality quickly at this point to the whole "long hood conversion" thing. Singer's work is incredible, and yet they all look the same. Ruf not so much, as they build their own bespoke (there is that word everyone hates) chassis. They are not cutting up cars, so to me it feels more authentic.

At Werks-Amelia this year, like last year, there were several really nice looking ones. For some reason they are striking me a "over done" fakes, and I say that as I am building up a Carrera RS 3.0 tribute car of sorts out of my Rat Rod. Just seems different when you are keeping the short hood look and hot rodding it, vs cutting the car apart to make it something that "everyone else" is now making. Plus short hoods, even mid-year cars, deserve love too. Guess I am just over the "short hood fad." I will pick on Singer, as they seem to be the leader of this pack. If you built a Singer, but in short hood style, with say an IROC'esq body, to the same standards off fit and finish as the current Singer......would it look that much "worse?" I think not. I think it would get as much attention, perform as well, and command as much money. Yeah it would look different, but I think no less "classic".

Funny thing is, back in the day, I think people were converting their long hoods to short hoods, and then were making 964 (turbo mostly) and 993 replica's out of older cars. Not on this scale though, this seems like a bit of an epidemic, and is ruining good cars forever, and the work to put them back will be VERY expensive. It is to the point that I am considering selling my 996TT and looking for a stock'ish 964 to drive and enjoy. I love the 964's, and with everyone cutting them apart right now there won't be many left. That can only drive the value up, maybe substantially.

Therein lies the good news, this will only drive short hood prices up, as more and more they will become rarer and harder to find in good shape. Sad though to me in a way. OK back to my coffee, rant over. Apologies to the OP, this has been brewing in me for a while. Maybe I need to go seek counseling for this issue.

I'll be somewhat of a dissenting voice here...front 3/4 view looks pretty good to me, full side view and rear 3/4 view not so much...looks like a Hot Wheels car from the side.

ugly sadly.
Rear bumper doesn't line up with the rockers which seem wrong somehow. Front bumper treatment looks good, they should move back from there instead of seemingly restarting the design after the front and then again rear wheels. Seems like it was designed three times and all were used in the same car.

This car could be fixed with a black decal on the lower half of the rocker.
