Ok. Just went back outside to test a theory...the pedal not going down was bothering me. The big arm I know moves free. So I thought let’s see if the little arm will move. I cannot get it to move. What does the little arm do and what does this mean?

The little arm pulls the throwout bearing and releases the clutch. If the pedal is still rock solid, that means the release fork is between the t/o bearing and the bellhousing, as in the guy that mated engine and trans messed up. That's probably why the little arm was so far away from the big arm. So, engine out to fix.

I don't have a 915 trans, I have a 930 trans, but on mine, I believe there is an inspection port where I was able to see the position of the fork to the TO bearing.
Can anyone confirm that the OP can get a light and mirror or boroscope in there to confirm the fork is not positioned correctly before pulling the motor? At least if you know its wrong, you know you aren't wasting your time pulling the motor.

Hi Nutt..as i suggested before get your self a little mirror lift the car and look inside the trany window-on top right- and see if the fork is connected inside the TO bearing.
on this picture is the left top ..

Hi, attaching some images to help you visualize...

There are ports on the left side of the transmission (when looking toward front of car).
The first image shows the top port which is larger.


The second image shows what you should see, i.e. the fork on the bearing.


I took these images when I swapped out the transmission on my car earlier this year. Photos show my original (and dirty) 915/62 transmission.

Thanks for the images. Yesterday I had the car towed to friends house who has a two post lift. In about an hour or so we are going to attempt to remove the motor.

I did have one more thought...the previous owner let the car sit outside on an aluminum trailer with a car cover over it for “about a year” could the clutch have seized due to rust?

The disc can get stuck to the flywheel or pressure plate from moisture after sitting a while, but the pedal would still go down.

Look at the positive ,you get to take the engine out on your own 911..;-)once is out reseal the top or at least check the triangle of death...

Feels so amazing to have done that myself (me and my buddy TJ).

What is the triangle of death?

Seems we are going to need a clutch kit and flywheel. Shame, the previous owners were slackers...apparently they put a brand new clutch disc but used an old pressure plate and flywheel...hacks!

Now, I am thinking about what else to do while engine is out...sadly I don’t think I can get it back together in time for Hershey

I have to be in Japan and China for 2 weeks between now and Hershey, so not much time to work on the car

Hi the TOD is your engine top oil leaks.Oil pressure switch,breather cover gasket and thermostat o ring
