Door lever broken

I went to get into my 83" 911 SC this afternoon for a drive and tried to open the door and the lever on the door handle "clicked" but the door did not open. I got into the car through the passenger side and pulled the strap on the driver side from the interior and the door opened no problem. It appears the the "lever" on the driver side door handle on the exterior has bit the dust.

Anyone who has knowledge or experience on this repair would be appreciated.

Thanks

Trigger?

Did the pull trigger break?

The trigger broke on mine and I was able to replace it. Here's a video showing the trigger component:

Very easy fix if that's the problem - removed door handle assembly, removed the broken trigger assembly and replaced with new and reassembled.

Good luck,

Gordo

Checked for Photo's

I searched to see if I documented the replacement - but apparently only took a couple of photo's and didn't write up a thread on how to repair.

Broken trigger fell off of the handle assembly:

Added note - no problem with fitment of the trigger replacement parts that I used, but obviously based on JW's experience quality control may vary among aftermarket parts.

From the outside, it appears that the trigger (lever) is still intact or not broken, however the trigger pulls all the way down as to open the door, and yet the door does NOT open. So it appears that it is broken somewhere on the "inside" of the assembly

You may have had some parts come loose and fall off inside the car or something break inside the door panel if your trigger still moves. Here is a photo of the insides and I have this door handle pair available if you need them.

The aftermarket triggers don't fit well. Try to find a donor handle.

Here's an old thread that covers tear down and reassembly.

I bought a pair of these a couple of years ago. I changed the one on the drivers side door. The fit and finish was good and it has worked like a charm since.
