Spark plugs

There are a lot of new hotter better firing spark plugs on the market. Out of the new plugs what are some of the best ones recommended for my 1985 Carrera? Thanks, Nick

From what we've heard NGK plugs work very well. Which ones are you currently using/have used in the past?

based on you comment "new hotter " you do know heat range has nothing to do with the heat of the spark of the plug,
it is the temperature that the plug operates at.

you want to run as cold a plug as your engine will permit. its really more of a problem in hi compression hi performance engines but you don't want to heat the plug up and make it an ignition source.

NGK Iridium’s

I’ve been using NGK Iridiums for years and love them. They last forever.

copper.
never used the iridiums.

I ran bosch platinums in my mazda truck for many years only because I liked bosch.
one day I decided to try a cheap autolite or champion.
it ran MUCH smoother and my gas mileage went UP 5mpg.

As I know it, the copper Bosch plug is the WR7DC, correct?

I have read many times on this forum the preference for "copper" plugs.

The following statement is from the NGK website:

“Copper spark plugs” is a term mistakenly used for a standard material spark plug. A standard material spark plug traditionally uses a nickel-alloy outer material fused to a copper core. Almost all spark plugs use a copper core center to conduct the electricity, jump the gap, and promote heat dissipation. However, as an outer electrode material, copper would not be a good choice, as it is soft and has a low melting point (resulting in a plug that would last minutes, not miles). Nearly all NGK spark plugs, including precious metals iridium and platinum, have a copper core. When one talks in terms of nickel alloys, platinum and iridium, one is referring to its durability, or how long a spark plug will last before it needs to be replaced. However, when one talks about copper, he or she is referring to its ability to conduct electricity that is needed to fire across the gap and ignite the air-fuel mixture.

So, what is meant my a "copper" plug if all plugs, at least by NGK, have a copper core and various coatings?

Hope I'm not hijacking the thread.

Thank you for your input it may have cleared up some confusion for some. I know I learned something!

Having an understanding of what 85911 wrote above, I have always understood "copper plug" to be a shorthand that refers to, more or less, a "standard" plug - that is, one that does not have platinum/iridium/whatever.
