bad idle post number 27
So, after replacing the ICV, fuel filter, tightened all intake runner bolts, fixed other vacuum leaks, adjusted base idle per Porsche manual, replaced 02 sensor, The idle is much better all warmed up. But on a regular morning in SO CAL, it coughs, sputters and wants to die till i catch it with the peddle . After I blip the throttle a bit it will start to hold and warm up. Anyway, I got both the regular idle and the idle with pins in B and C to be about the same. But still bad morning warmup. Wife just told me I spend too much time on my car! Dang. Any thoughts on where most guys set the idle/air screw? I read that turning screw to the left allows more air and should help keep a steady warm up idle. Not there yet.

Ever do a compression and leakdown? Ever have a shop check the mixture setting?
|
I have plans for my local P shop to check the mixture. Thanks. Just bummed.

Good to know the engine is sound before putting a lot of troubleshooting time and parts into it.

I’m sure you are right. After I did the tune up it passed smog really great and ran well for two weeks. I just keep going back and checking if I did something wrong. It runs really well at speed. It is time for a pro I guess.

After a huge search I have found that many owners of 3.2 cars have this problem!
