Right clutch package to use?
 

I asked earlier as part of another post, but it got lost in the shuffle. For those of you out there who aren't driving this weekend, I am trying to find out the right clutch package to use for my car.

The CAR is a '72 911 T with a 915 transmission. The MOTOR is a 1970 2.2S. From what I can tell, the 915 uses a different type of fork, TO bearing and pressure plate (dont know about the clutch plate) than the 901 used in 1970, and the 2.2 motor uses a different flywheel than the 2.4 motor that originally came with the car.

Since my car has the 2.2 flywheel (doesn't have the seperate starter ring), am I correct in assuming that the 915 type pressure plate (with the integral TO bearing) bolts up to the older style flywheel and that there is no difference in clutch plates?

The only other options I can think of is that I have some kind of hybrid setup, or my current setup is cludged together.

I have a 70 2.2S, and as I recall from the most recent reassembly, it has a seperate flywheel ring gear.
I clearly recall this, as I had to delay reassembly to find a ring gear at the time.
It also has the aluminum pressure plate with the flat spring mechanism, and a seperate throwout bearing.
1970 used the one-year "push type" clutch, where the outer sleeve of the cable actually was used as the driving element for the clutch release, and the cable itself was stationary.. together all of this was known as the 911 transmission, a "upgrade from the 901, just prior to the 915 in 1972..
So I don't know if that helps you, but to me it sounds like your flywheel clutch is more 1972 than 1970.....:cool:
