Sportomatic vs. standard engines.

Curious.
what is the difference between standard versus sportomatic engines ? The sporto's have there own engine number. My 2.7 engine number is listed as "equipped for sportomatic transmission" (not in original car)

My 3.6 transplant has an engine from a 964 with an auto transmission. My 83 has a 15 five speed.

So, prolly just a book keeping thingy. Of course the flywheel, clutch and other stuff was changed.

sporto pump drive off the front of the left camshaft. A couple big vacuum ports on the induction. Different throttle linkage bits. Flywheel replaced with flex plate.

Thanks for the replies. Guess my engine had already had those items changed out before I bought it as a loose engine.
