manual window hard to roll down

Happy Easter Pellicanites!

I had a rattle in my passenger door so I decided to open and take a look. The source of the rattle was discovered and I decided to tackle another issue: when I roll down the manual window, it becomes increasingly hard after I roll down passed the half way down mark while opening. rolling up isn't an issue.

I looked at all the mechanism and oiled the regulator it gets better but the problem persists. I oiled the mechanism through the whole (ref arrow) - it seemed to get better but it still becomes harder to roll down the window passed the mid-point.

any ideas into why? I'm not usually lazy but I want to avoid having to unscrew something that would take forever to figure out and/or put back together!

Ok... I can see that being the cause of the issue. How would I go by changing the angle? Can I simply loosen the regulator bolts, play with the window angle and tighten the bolts?

Put a new felt runner in it. The felt wears away and the class drags on the rubber where the felt used to be.

ok, so I read the thread. so to re-align the window, I have to
1) detach it from the regulator
2) align and tape it at the top of the window frame
3) re-attach the regulator to the thread

... if this doesn't work I will look at a new felt runner

I will keep you guys posted

I would replace the felt liner first. If you havent made any changes to the car, its unlikely the window got mis-aligned. the felt however does wear over time and will made the windows considerably harder to roll up or down when they are worn out.

I just spent an hour trying to re-align the window and im back at the same spot. I guess you are correct my friend: the culprit seems to be the felt liner. I will keep this project for another day!

PS: Pelicans shipping fees to Montréal, Qc are just outrageous! Felt cost x3

I'll de a little research and hopefully try fitting a felt liner that isn't OEM

Thanks so much guys for the help!

If this is a 74 like your handle says, the leading window frame member should be adjustable via a slotted hole in the bottom of your door, It's possible that at some where along the line it was not squared up the last time it was loosened.

yes, it's a '74 coupe. i looked for slotted holes and adjusting screws like stated on page 640-6 of the Porsche service manual but I couldn't locate any. are you referring to the area circled in yellow in this picture?http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1522590761.JPG

Nope
Follow the forward frame rail to the bottom of the door interior. Look for a 13mms bolt.
