Congratualtions to my fellow graduates. The first of hopefully many from the Boyt911sc flatsix school of engine building. Thank you to professor Tony for sharing his knowledge and making this possible.

It was a great two days of hands on education. Professor Tony dispelled the mystique that is the 911 flat six. Not only did we get hands on experience tearing down, inspecting parts and reassembling a flat six. Well most of reassembling a flat six. We also had the opportunity to use some proprietary tools. We were sworn to silence regarding the tools as some are still under development and or in the processes of refinement. If you want to know what they are you must attend a class. Steve Stomski was kind enough to lend the class some of his cool blue anodize tools. He also drove up from Annapolis, MD and demonstrated how to set cam timing dead on balls accurate with his cam timing fixture, 911 mechanical tensioners, digidix and cam sprocket tool and tdc indicator. Very cool stuff. I think the cam timing fixture is a must have myself.

Edit- We also had another visitor on day one Bruce Kramer a friend of drbeemer73 and the professor lend a hand and some of his knowledge.

Thanks again Tony for allowing me to attend the class and to my fellow graduates it was a great two days with some great people.

I see the new tool you have under development. I'll spoil it for everyone. They are as follows. First up is the hose clamp and second are the freeze plug replacements.

Hey guys, sorry no we did not record the class. We all had our cell phones and took pics as we felt they were necessary, as well as notes.

It was a great mix of education, fun, hands on, Tony! and smack talk. Nothing like a few Pelicans getting together and talking shop. One thing is clear, Tony is great. From the start Tony showed he has a passion for these cars and like sharing his knowledge. Who knew you can build custom engine tools with hose clamps, old pistons and a few odds and ends? I dont know how Tony got anything done with constant questions we peppered him with but he did. I know I'm more confident is some of the 'magic' in this old engines. Also, Stomski was a great sport helping out. Seeing several ways to accomplish a task, from dedicated tools to homebrew ingenuity was really helpful.

I'd do it again

Spent a good 5 hours today disassembling/assembling the engine and fixing the bores for the wrist pins which were scratched during the class disassembly and gave us some trouble installing them. I honed the bores yesterday and the wrist pins slide very smoothly. So the next group should have a much easier time putting back the pistons and cylinders back in the engine. My honing tools are on standby just in case we will encounter some trouble.

Thanks for the kind words and appreciate your feedbacks. I will be incorporating some of the suggestions I received from the first group to improve the sessions.
