Quick Q: "Rare '78 only Bright Colors" - Is this a thing?

Pcar folks: Hagerty has me evaluating my current Total Loss coverage. Their guide refers to adding a percentage for "...extremely rare bright 1978-only colors like Apple Green, Fern Green, Continental Orange and Arrow Blue." My car is Minerva Blue (love it!) so falls outside of these colors I believe, but I am curious - was this a thing for the 1978 line of SCs? Did a search but no joy - thanks for amusing me on this point.

Check out www.rennbow.org. It’s a PCA color wiki. You can search by model and year. For 1978, it calls apple green a near unicorn color. Edit: Wow, post 911 for me! Mark

Great site Mark and congrats on your 911th post! Looks to me like '79 has even more colors that I'd call rare? Colibri Green metallic for example.

My 911 is black metallic, but that site lumps photos of black metallic from 1979 with photos of other "black metallic" cars from later years. In 1979 it was almost a titanium metallic, it doesn't look black at all. I think it's fairly rare. Mark

My original paint apple green 1976 912e, fairly positive it’s the only 912e finished in that color. I do know Glasurit no longer makes the pigment for the original formula.

I just got my 1979 Euro 930 back from a repaint in its original color light green metallic #275. According to the site its a fairly rare "Bright Color", its quite stunning in person.

Continental Orange was not "1978 only". It was 76 (mine) thru 78 IIRC.
