Can I remove my dash w/o front window removal?
 
Hey Guys,
I am wondering if I can pull this off, I need to get my dash out but DO NOT want to pull the front wind screen!
can this be done?

Someone will chime in w/ the definite answer, but as I remember the answer is no. Hope I'm wrong for your sake.

I think it was no through 1985; then it went from unlikely/impossible to difficult. I seem to recall the problem is the line of fasteners at the very front of the dash which were too difficult to get to with the glass in place. Cheers, Jim

you can get it out, and damage it in the process, but the screws that hold the front lip down, real close to the rubber seal, can't be removed, or re-installed with the glass in.

I was hoping that you guys wouldn't say that!! :( ugh... I guess I'll have to pull off what I am trying to do with oUT! pulling it out..

I would agree that the windshield on Eric's '78 needs to come out, given the early method of the vertical screws at the base of the windshield.

However, on '86 and later cars (with the long single center vent) there is no need (or any advantage) to removing the glass. Pulling the glass on those cars doesn't increase access to anything.
