My front seat won't slide forward!!!
 

Just when I thought everything in was in order...............

I took a co-worker along for lunch last week and he has to be 6"4"+. When he got in the car, I showed him the seat "slide" knob (lower left) and proceeded to push the seat back, but alittle too fast for my comfort. Anyways, the damn thing won't slide forward!!! I can see that the adjuster lets go of the lock positions and slides up just so far. In fact it slides forward to the point where you still see 5+ inches of seat rail (slide) exposed.

I tried prying from the back, pushing, forcing, but no give! I cannot get to the four bolts that hold the seat rail down in the back to take the seat out to correct it that way. Nothing sounds loose or broken...................I cannot figure this one out.

Anyone suffer the same thing at one time? Help!!

Sounds like a time to get a friend, a few tools and some lubrication.....best bet is TRY to unbolt the seat rails. If you can't get to the front and rear bolts because the seat is covering the rail bolts....

Ya need to get some lube on the rails via some spray lubrication.......MY vote is anything BUT WD40.....Liquid Wrench or PB blaster is good.....

BUT....most of the time the bolts ARE accesible even at the extreme limits. 10mm if my feeble brain still works.

Get a flashlight and look under the seat to see if the fore-aft lever's "cross-bar" came loose (preventing the seat position "lock" from disengaging). If so, it just simply pushes back into the plastic "lock-turn" bushing.

I bet one of the bolts that hold the rail to the seat came loose and is jambed. A PITA to fix

I am with you. Although I cannot see the bolts I did have the seat off awhile back to get better rear seat access and one I bet one of the bolts came loose, but still in. I know if one comes up the slighest bit, the slide will jam. Its going to be tough to get to.

That same thing happened to me. The bolt is going to be very hard to remove now. I had to stick a long chisel down the rail and turn the bolt with the chisel. I can't remember if I loosen or tightened the bolt. It took a while

I would check to make sure a penny or small coin hasn't fallen into the track. Although this hasn't happened to me in my 911, it has happen to me in other cars.
