Oil Cooler Fan Kit for '86 930?
I posted this in the 930 forum but thought I'd check here too.
I'm looking to install a fan for the front wheel well oil cooler in my '86 930. I see Patrick Motorsports have a fan but didn't see a kit. I need mounting hardware, thermostat, etc. What's the best setup? I tried the search and didn't see any mention of a kit. TIA ![]()

While there's probably a kit offered. All the parts are typically off-the-shelf. They include:
- ON-OFF switch - SPST relay - Spal or equiv. pull fan (5-7"). Mounts in back of cooler. - Fan mount hardware (variable; from zip ties to fabricated brackets) - 12 and 14-16 ga. wire and assorted zip ties, M-F connectors - Temp. sensor (opt.) something like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01E52O5DG/ref=sspa_dk_detail_7?psc=1&pd_rd_i=B01E52O5DG&pd_rd_wg=ECDUr&pd_rd_r=HBETN26MYDV6A2YKB8TT&pd_rd_w=PYOn0 The search feature yields several pages on the subject. Here's one thread that has some good info and links to schematics and Pelican's tech page: Yet another cooling fan question Sherwood |
