Steel rod/stick in left door

Hi

I have found a steel rod/stick in my left door going across from front to back inside the door. Does not look like it’s from factory.

It’s a 1980 SC targa and the stick is not in the right door.

Anybody know of that and what it can be??

Federalize car does seem possible as it certainly looks like a cobbled up set-up.

My car was Federalized in Stuttgart and they welded in tubes like that in each door.

Yes it is a ROW car. Delivered originally in Germany.
