Name that relay
1982 SC has a relay located on a harness right above the battery. I’m having a head time tracing the wires and wonder if this is stock. I can’t seem to get it to click by switching on accessories.

Do you have upgraded h4 type lights. Might be for that. I have an added relay for my h4’s that was added by the PO. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
That was a first thought. I do have H4s. But I don’t hear a click when turning them on high or low. As a comparison, I can hear my horn relay clearly.

Pull it and see if the lights still work.

Now that you mention it....I did do that and both hi and low worked.

Alarm system? Aftermarket power locks?
|
Do you have headlight washers? Could be that relay. That’s the general area for it. Although your picture looks different from the factory one.
That also resembles the modern replacement for the OXS relay that is under the passenger seat. Not saying it is. Just looks similar. Could be same/similar functionality. |
Oil Cooler fan?
|
The car lived he past 10 years or so as a E class race car so I don’t believe it’s an alarm or aftermarket windows. No washer system or OXS. The car does have an aux oil cooler fan switched by what was the defrost dash pull switch. I’ll recheck that one.
Thanks for all the ideas and I’ll report back once I figure it out. |
Its not aftermarket. I think squirters for headlights is a good guess. Not all cars have them. but some people see the empty plug and put a relay in it....
