My turn to be stupid...
So last week I replaced my tail lights and everything looked great...except...no reverse lights. My Oregon inspection is due next month and while I'm not sure whether they do all the safety checks they used to I figured I need to have working reverse lights anyway. So, I found a couple of threads here on reverse light issues, crawled under the car and saw that yes, only one of the two wires is actually connected to the reverse light switch.
Stupidly, I didn't think about that switch going straight into the transmission fluid reservoir (thought the washer and tight fit should've told me something). I narrowly avoided a face full of transmission fluid but I managed to get the switch back in place pretty quickly. Before I start taking other stuff out, I just want to make sure that I have the right plug for the filler plug. It is on the driver side, correct? The one am I pointing to in the pic below, right? |

Correct. Use 24Nm / 17,7 foot pounds when tightening both the drain and the filler plug

They do not have a safety check in Oregon, only emission testing. That said, you should do you own safety check regularly. Things like:
Lights working Horn working No excessive leaks Wheels bearings tight Ball joints tight Shocks ok Doors work ok You get the idea.
