Vent window seal between frame and body?

See picture below.

Is #16 the seal between the door body and vent window frame? I just took my window frame out and there is some dry goo almost like gasket sealer on the bottom of the vent window frame. I am wondering if the previous owner used it in lieu of a proper seal.

BTW I have a 71T

Thanks.

Butyl Tape / Caulk

Can't tell what item #16 is from the diagram, but the "dry goo" you are referring to is an OEM sealant.

When I replaced my window vent frame I replaced the original dried black caulk with butyl rubber tape / window sealant. Most local auto parts places carry it.

There is a seal with “piping” for 74-89 cars for this application. I don’t know if it would work on a 73 or earlier car. I would go to the Early 911S Registry and search.
