'84 Carrera Steering Wheel

Does anyone know if any '84 Carrera came with the 3-spoke SC-like steering wheel? Looked at one on the weekend, and was surprise it didn't have the 4-spoke.

All '84 Carreras came with the 3 spoke wheel. They switched to the 4 spoke wheel in '85 or '86.

leather wrapped four spoke became standard in 1985

Thanks. For some reason I thought they started with the 4-spoke in '84. Interestingly, I was looking at another '84 that does have a 4-spoke wheel. Oh well.

I checked in my Porsche Red Book before responding - it says 1985 was first year with 4 spoke steering wheel. I suppose the car you drove could have had the steering wheel swapped.

Or maybe a late-production `84? If so, it would probably have the windshield antenna as well.

Thanks for clearing this up for me.

Eric, oddly enough, the one with the 4-spoke wheel still had the fender-mounted antenna. I guess someone must have swapped out the original. Seems like an odd upgrade though?
