BMW seat transplant to a 912?
I saw a very nice set of BMW 325iS seats transplanted into a 2002 yesterday, and it got me to thinking about whether these seats could be mounted in my 66.
It's a long-since non original car, my daily driver. I have a beat-to-death Flo-Fit driver seat in the car now, just wondering if the BMW seats could be adapted to the stock 66 seat rails? thanks!

I installed a set of BMW 320is seats in my '68 912 Soft Window Targa many years ago. Most comfortable seats I've had in any car I've owner. Had them done in houndstooth inserts and added electric seat heaters. I believe the 325is seats have hard backs? They look a little too modern for my tastes but I'm sure they're a big upgrade from the stock "self reclining" comfort seats.

Tony that is exactly what I want. How much of a hassle was the install? Did the BMW seats mount to the Porsche sliders?

Recaro E 30 sport seats
No they do not fit the rails so a custom adapter is necessary. However they are great seats for the early 911. I had a set done with larger perforated bolsters, and basketweave centers. As well I had the headrests cut down to resemble the early Recaro Sport S seats. Only problem you will face is they sit a bit taller so if you are tall, or have a sunroof, you might need to find a way to make the bases narrower.

Adam,
Not much of a hassle to install in the '68. I bought the Weltmiester adaptor plates (used for mounting later tall back seats to early cars) and used the original style sliders. '67 sliders may be welded to the bottom of the seats. Better check as you may need '69 sliders. I did find that the 320is seats were too low (unlike Speedo) and I used 3/4" steel square stock as spacers to bring them up to a comfortable height.

Here's a few shots of the mounting before I had the seats redone:

E 30 seats
I am about to have a ratty set of seats re-done by a local guy. My specific instructions will be to "bolster" the bolsters side and lowers, and to cut down the egg shaped headrest to mimic the early sport seats. Last set I did were in black with perf bolsters and basketweave centers which I loved. This set I am uncertain on color (black or tan) and whether or not I want a tartan in the center vs basketweave. Had some seats made for another car with this company's tartan "Wallace" and I love them. Thinking Auld Lang Syne and black would look nice. I will post detailed pics of before and after.
