Clutch cable

Thinking about replacing my clutch cable. Decided to replace the pedal bushing and assist spring also. What about replacing the omega spring on the clutch side? While I’m under there is there any other things that can be done to help the clutch feel. Thanks Dave

The Omega spring is a good idea, mine broke a couple of years ago out of the blue. I figure age finally caught up with it. Also replace the little metal clips that attach the end of the clutch cable to the pedal assembly.

I agree with Kurt... in addition to getting a new clutch cable...I would remove the pedal cluster, completely clean it, replace all the bushings with new brass ones, lube everything, replace all the connectors/clips, the clutch pedal spring in cluster, helper spring and omega spring.

On my 84 I have a small switch that rests up againg the clutch pedal mechanism...that gets engaged each time you push in the clutch pedal. It’s part of the cruise control system.

Not only is it easy to bend the metal connector arm on that switch when trying to get the pedal cluster out... it’s pretty cheap...so “while I was in there” replaced everything noted plus that 30+ year old switch.

That way once everything’s done and back in... and you do the clutch cable adjustment settings...you have peace of mind knowing there’s no weak links in the chain.
