DUMB QUESTION #4: Secret Hidden Button

Ok.... this one has me stumped!
I found this while crawling around under the dash on a Tuesday night (as you do) and this was attached to a bunch of wires behind the dash right above the centre consul that houses the 2 dial air-conditioning controls. Anyone got any idea what it does? I'm guessing perhaps its something to do with the air con that the PO never used and says is disconnected. Any ideas greatly appreciated! :)

cheers

follow the wires...

Don't press it while you are in the drivers seat (ejector seat button :) )

That kinda makes sense! Cheers. I'll start pressing things tomorrow and see what happens! ;) From what I read cruise control seems like a total waster of grams on this car and not sure I'd ever use it anyway. Once I figure it out perhaps it's best gone!

Thanks!!!

Definitely aftermarket, but you’ll have to follow the wires. Perhaps a anti theft system?

RSBob 05-15-2018 06:48 PM

You weren’t supposed to find that.

I have a switch like that on my 88 Cab. I put it in to turn on the right front oil cooler electric fan manually. The fan will still come on automatically when the thermostat senses high oil temperature as well. I was troubleshooting an oil temp problem that turned out to be the engine-mounted oil cooler. I still turn it on early on hot days to keep the temps down some when I have my A/C blowing.

It could be just about anything though. Most likely an ejection seat so please be careful.

Yeah your going to have to press it and if that does nothing follow the wires. It’s aftermarket and could be anything from a fog light switch to a engine cut off. So press it when parked.

Did you find out what it goes to?

No idea. I am waiting for a new AC fan belt, relay and fuse to arrive so that I can connect that up (PO disconnected them but did not remove them so I want t o see if they still work before deleting) and perhaps it's something to do with that because I can't think what else it might be. It used to be screwed to the underside of the dash at some point in time.

Power antenna switch?

Have you ordered Bentley and 101 Projects yet?
