Carrera upgrade question

I have an 84 Carrera Euro that currently has a vacuum leak caused by a bad gasket in the manifold I will have to have the gasket replaced.

My question is, while I have the manifold out and am messing around down there, are there any upgrades or routine maintnance that I should do?

I'd replace the oil pressure switch and the thermostat O-ring. Check the breather hose (and others) for cracks. I'd pull the engine to do this but others prefer to do it in the car. -Chris

I recommend silicon sealer applied liberally on both sides of all the new gaskets and not relying on the gasgets alone to seal future vacuum leaks as years of heating and cooling cycles will eventually cause your gaskets to turn brittle and leak again without an extra cushion of non hardening silicon sealer.

Both of these are good points, thanks. This car sat for long periods in Texas before it was brought north and I bought it. Are there any other gaskets you recommend I check or just replace as long as I am doing this one?

the fuel line that runs under the intake is notorious for being full of cracks. a hydraulic repair shop can replace the hose cheaply. over $500 new.
