1974 Carpet kit

Hello I need the carpet for my 1974 Carrera coupe. The car has what is called blue/ black interior. The carpet is very dark blue and like 1 year only. Does anyone make a complete kit in the right original stuff?
Thanks George

George,

Have you tried our host, Porsche 911 & Carrera Carpets & Floor Mats - Page 2

It looks like they might be able to get whatever color you need.

It is probably very similar to the short cut pile carpet in my '75 911S, which also was a very dark blue (almost black).

As for texture, the domestic cut pile offered by our host and other places is very close. I have not seen a blue quite as dark though.

The sliverknit carpet is nowhere close, as it is much softer and fluffier.

Since my interior is mostly black, I opted for black/charcoal German squareweave carpet. It looks very good, although it's not exactly original.

If you can send us a small sample of the carpet that hasn't been exposed to the sun, we can see what we can do to find a good match.

Not to completely derail, but maybe to clarify for both of us.......

To anyone that has tried the "domestic carpet" is it as dense as the OEM carpet? My car came to me with new carpet installed but it is just like (to me) what we covered speaker boxes with as teenagers, or what was in my Hyundai.

What I'd like there is the dense stuff like I believe was originally there and what is in our modern BMW, that which I may make the ever so cool [Victory Motorcars-esque] dark and light stripes in when vacuuming.

So is our hosts "domestic" this or must one order the Silverknit or Haargarn to achieve the above?

1974 carpet

Hello To all 1974 Carpet is in 1974 only. 1973 & 1975 are different. Almost all the carpets kits are NOT WHAT I WANT. They are thin and look different.
Thanks George

I thought the midnight carpet was also used in 1975, at least the dealer carpet samples I have from the 1975 model year the are midnight. I've also seen blue interior carpets on a Carrera, but this doesn't match any of the Porsche color books or brochures that I can find. What is the real story here??

From my research I've gotten conflicting information regarding which texture was used in the 1974 and 1975 Carrera. The Porsche Color Codes & Material Samples (WET 602 614) binder says a rougher Perlon needle felt velour (low cut, dense pile) while another 1975 dealer brochure shows a more plush velour pile (low cut, dense pile) that is soft to touch but not as thick or extra soft as Sliverknit.

AFAIK the blue/ black is NLA. I checked with autos int. and autobahn when doing a 74 carrera and that is what they told me, and they should know

I haven't found any either and pinged all the usual sources. I think it has been NLA for a LONG time. Maybe with the rise in values of G-series someone will reproduce this now.

1974 carpet was also used in 1975. I have owned multiple time-warp 74' and 75' 911s that both had this midnight blue carpet. The carpet is extremely dark blue and the carpet is made from plastic/polyester fibers. This carpet is for both 74 and 75. I haven't looked where this original or least similar to original carpet can be bought from. I know there's several German vendors that sell OEM material. You may also want to give Tony Garcia at Autobahn Interiors a ring, since he is one of the masters of Porsche interiors.

Carpet replacement

Hi there
Apologies in advance for re-resurrection of this thread.

I’m needing a carpet set for my car and keen to keep it as original as possible. Did anyone ever succeed in finding the original 1974 only style carpet? If not what did you use instead?

Cheers
Andrew
