Should I replace door vapor barrier? With what?
 

So the other day something seemed to snap and I can no longer lock or unlock the door from the outside, though the inside lock works. Obviously, I have to take the door apart and fix it. Should I replace the vapor barrier while I'm in there? If so, with what? Can I just cut a trash bag to fit? Also, I noticed that the cardboard door panel is somewhat rotted around where the inside handle fits - I think you can see it in the picture below. Any suggestions or how to shore it up or do I just need to eventually replace the whole panel?

Pelican sells the vapor barrier. I don’t remember it being too expensive. If you need to order anything else I would just add them to your cart.

Home Depot Husky plastic sheeting. Made on myself several years ago, it was pretty easy. Trace, cut.

That thing looks to have has plenty of life left.

Peel it off carefully. Use Contact Cement to tack it back on.

+1 on using decent grade of visqueen.

FYI: You can brush a bit of fiberglass resin on the rotted fiberboard areas to save/strengthen those areas. Was my go-to trick when buying 914's in the 90's as the upholstery behind the seats was attached to fiberboard that was water damaged, broken, rotted 90% of the time!
