Frame bench in Denver
Anybody know of a shop near Denver that has a Celette bench and fittings for early 911 chassis? SmileWavy I may need something pulled...

Celette or equivalent needed
I need to put a chassis on a bench to pick up reference points for some structural steel replacement. Anybody know of a capable shop near Denver with the correct early fittings? I am to understand that Foggs in CoSpgs has a bench, but no early fittings.
Mike at ResDesign has offered to sell me a bench and fittings...not the way I want to go. Don't need to own it, just want to use it. :) |
Talk to Joe at Alliance Auto Care in Loveland. He'll know.

Frame bench
Still looking. Seems nobody is really in this business. I have called the referrals and they talk a good line. Reality is that someone needs a bench that can accommodate the specific early Porsche fixtures. I have pulled plenty of panels in my years using a sturdy tree and a come along. This is a bit more involved.

How about Dave DiMaria?
Don't know if he has a bench, but I would think he could refer you. |

Obviously this is a niche that is not being served. Someone needs to buy a bench and start pushing and pulling! SmileWavy |

I am now retired and have recently sold my shop. The new owners only do mechanicals and do not want to buy this Celette Seven Bench.... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1532098876.jpg ...and all the 911 attachments 66 thru 89. I am now downsizing and moving to NH, and will only be doing Porsche HOSES. This is for sale at a very reasonable price. EDIT: Will also consider interesting Porsche related trades. Please inquire by email only. Len dot Cummings at verizon dot net :) |
Ok guys...here is your chance
Len,
Thanks for posting. I'm guessing your inbox is going to be overflowing. PP discount too? I have no room and sloped floors...so I am not a candidate. Guys, let me know who buys this and when you can slip me in... :D |

Len has been busy, we were chatting about it as well and he was going to get back to me with additional info (didn’t want to rush him; I know what sorting & moving is like!)

Bill Edwards had one. He's kind of retired, but I'd ask him. While he is a 356 guy, I'd ask Tom Scott. No doubt Tom at Carquip didn't know where one was locally? Ken's Autobody in Denver did great work long ago, but on all kinds of cars so might not have this bench. Pat Moyle or Steve Rowe might know? The guys at 3R (Dax could ask his dad), or Storr's?

Frame availability...to straighten a 72 tub
I should probably close this thread, or at least provide some closure almost one year later. I contacted 15 shops that were potential candidates. Some as a result of referrals, google search and advertisers. End result...was pretty pathetic. As I was not trying to rebuild an historic race tub...the high end race shops were out of the question. The shops that had frames were then separated into two groups. The shops that had a rack, wanted to charge me for renting the jigs (thats how it is done)...insanely high prices and they had no experience with early 911s, and the shops that supposedly had the early 911 jigs ended up being too busy....also known as we don't have the experience, so lets save us all the frustration.
Bottom line...nobody with the equipment and skill was available. I sold the chassis. You guys on the coasts have the swap meets, the cool shops, the dip tanks and the chromers, and the frame shops. But we have the mountain roads...and High Plains Raceway which you should all come out to experience. In the future...for someone in the area that wants to offer themselves up with the skill and a rack, you have all the business in the front range...probably from Canada to Mexico. |
