90 degrees out and I'm getting heat

At least the new AC system is working but I'm getting some heat through the side, foot or defrost vents. With everything off I get a little bleeding through the two dash side vents even with the AC on high. Recently the driver side heat control valve stuck letting heat in but I lubed it and seemed to be working. I'll check it again when the engine cools off (if that's possible today) but is there any other way heat could be entering the system. I recently removed the engine top hot air blower and ducted that air back into the heater pipe. Seems like that shouldn't be the problem. Thanks for any help.

It sounds like the flapper valves aren’t closing off the ducting into the cabin. I’d trylubricating once again and check the cable adjustment as they may be preventing proper operation.

It was the "flapper" but not its fault. I put the car up and saw the valve was closed so moved it with a screwdriver. When it snapped back shut I saw the new AC line was catching the wire controlling it. All fixed which is a good thing. Near 100 and sunny out but getting 60 at the vents inside. Next step is getting new reflective window tint on all the windows and a band across the top of the windshield to block a little more sun. Thanks

Can I ask, what you all mean with flapper? I have the same problem - super hot in the right footwell.

I looked at the right heat control box while my wife was moving the heat lever with ignition on. The fan came on and the box opens and closes.

Is there a part in this box which I don't see, which could be faulty. Any other advice what to check next?

The flappers are spring-loaded plates near the heat exchangers under the car in the back. They open and close from levers/autoheat box in between the seats. If the flappers are open they exhaust heat out the underside of the car. If closed they divert heat into the cabin. The flappers can get stuck closed for a variety of reasons and it sounds like your right side flapper is stuck.

Also, not sure what you mean by heat control box. What year car? When you lift the lever the flapper should close and the blower motor in the engine compartment should turn on.

the " flappers" are part of the heat control box, you guys are talking about the same thing.

as you can see from this pic of a very rusted one, the box actually serves two functions.
The flapper inside the box is what opens and closes to block the heat from entering the car. It also opens a " wastegate" to allow the hot air to exit the stream to outside .

Sometimes the waste gate moves so you think it is working , but the flapper inside is broken, still allowing some heat to pass.

A work of caution , be VERY careful if you decide to remove the box. I would be soaking those studs for a week twice a day every day working with an old tooth brush before ever attempting to remove the nuts. The pic is a typical example of what they can look like.
