After reading about how some of you ripped into the guy that informed the guy selling the car to cheap. I may have a similar situation coming up. I know a guy that told me last week he has done some work for a woman whose boss is selling off some of his "old" cars. One of them is a 72 911. This guy I know was going to check it out and find out what it is. He said the guy bought it new and wants someone to buy it that will drive it. The woman who knows this guy has seen the car and says it is perfect with less than 30k miles has been in a barn and covered the entire time he has owned it.
I'm going to go check this car out when I find out what it is. It is a couple of hours from here. The possibilites have me chomping at the bit. He had an XKE 67 roadster he sold already with low low miles. For less than 20k and it was perfect. So I guess my question is since this car is started once or twice a month, has the original paint and full leather interior, runs well etc what would a fair price for the guy to ask, or for me to offer? In other words what if he only asks 10-15k? I know there a bunch of a guy new a woman that know a man but this is a legit deal. And if it does check out I'll take pictures and post them for everyone. Then buy it for 10k - ask em what they want for it first - and hope that someone doesn't come along before the deal is sealed and tell them it's worth 40k - even if they have no intention on buying it.

This friend of mine is a motor mouth. He told the woman he did the work for that he knows a guy that has Porsches. She then said, my boss has this car. It went from there. He doesn't need to sell it. It is one of those to good to be true barn finds I hope. Her boss is a small town lawyer. Maybe he hasn't discovered the internet?

Let me see. An original owner, original paint 911 with 30k miles. An owner who starts it once or twice a month and keeps it covered in a barn. But who would maybe let it go for $10K - $15K. A '67 E-Type roadster in perfect condition that this same guy sells for $20K.
Do these things happen? Sure they do . . . in my dreams! ![]() |
