What is this thing, part 2

Piggy backing off Gretz, can anyone (Dennis?) identify the small square black box attached to the driver side wheel well area in the frunk of my US version 82 911SC?

I came across the box as I began installing Fred Cook's fuse panel update (only took me four years to get around to it). In doing that project, I have had to repair some old wiring, add sections, etc, which I expected would be the case. I am also cleaning out the last wires from an aftermarket alarm system (aka the nightmare). Being a novice wiring diagram reader, I cannot find the mystery box in the Bentley Manual, but I am sure someone will tell me it is there.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Sam

Box with the X ?

Rev limiter.

That box (the one with the "X" and no visible numbers), if memory serves me, has something to do with the fuel pump/rev limiter circuitry.

Thank you both. You California guys have all the answers.

And Dr. Z., nice to hear from you!

Best,
Sam

I looked for info on rev limiter on the Carrera 3.2 Owners Manual and did not find it. Did I miss it? Where is it discussed in the Owners Manual?

I believe the Motronic ECU provides that function.

Right, of course. I found a reference to a 'speed limiting governor' on page 32 of the '86 Carrera Owners Manual. I found no other mention.

The 86 owners manual has no bearing on this.
1984 and later Carreras are Motronic DME computer controlled.
1973.5 thru 1983 are CIS K-Jetronic controlled.
